does twitter enhance community

Thanks to Shane Hipps, I have found myself a little more critical of technology and its supposed uses for community. Just read this article from Time, and I'm curious on your thoughts...

About a month ago, someone unexpectedly knocked on my door and handed me a beautiful bouquet of flowers...all because she'd read my Facebook update. And I'll tell you, that physical interaction was felt deeply, in my heart, and is still meaningful today. Do I remember ANYthing that was written on my WALL a month ago? Nope.
I think a lot of us are getting burnt out on the one-liner pseudo relationships, and are needing the authenticity of the human touch. You've made me realize that I hope Imago takes a break from Twittering (which I think is ridiculous anyway, I'll have to admit) as they break from programs to reunite, re-evaluate, and reacquaint.
